Medica Liberia Supports The Fight Against Covid 19 In Montserrado And Margibi Counties

In response to the fight against the COVID 19, medica Liberia’s 12 operational communities in Montserrado and Margibi counties including its support group network of young girls undergoing mentorship as well as market halls, motorbike, taxi and bus stations were beneficiaries of the distribution of assorted items amidst the coronavirus spread in the country.
This initiative served as an intervention to reinforce the preventive measures in already low income communities considering the abrupt pronouncement of the State of Emergency during this Coronavirus pandemic .
The distribution which was carried out on April 9 & 10 2020 included sanitary materials to enable those coming in and out of those vicinities abide by health protocols by washing their hands before and after their interaction.
In same period, medica Liberia team created awareness among communities on how to handle issues of sexual &gender based violence in the community, providing a referral pathway directory with contact numbers of the police , one stop centers (health centers) and other Sexual & Gender based actors who form part of the referral pathway during this emergency period
