A civil rights group under the banner “Anti-Crime Activist” (ACA) has called on the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Justice and other legal bodies in the country to prosecute Mr. Ndubusi Nwabudike for allegedly swindling the legal system of the country.
In a statement issued on late Sunday, April 5, 2020 evening, ACA Executive Director, Nana Lartey said, his organization finds it extremely saddened and highly worrisome for an individual who claimed to be a naturalized citizen and has practice law for more than twenty years in Liberia, failed to display his original naturalization certificate before the Liberian Senate following his nomination as Chairman-designate of the National Elections Commission (NEC) by President George M. Weah.
According to Lartey, though the Liberian leader has withdrawn the nomination of Mr. Nwabudike, it is highly awful and intensely disappointing for such individual to have allegedly dupe the entire country by serving in various capacities in both the private and public sectors.
He said some of the positions Mr. Nwabudike occupied prior to him being exposed by the Senate should have been occupied by Liberians.
The ACA Executive Director claimed, the action of the withdrawn NEC nominated chairman-designate is highly fraudulent and exposes the weakness of the entire governance and legal system of the country.
Lartey wants Mr. Nwabudike to be charged and arrested for what he called, indulging in multiple offences ranging from, perjury, forgery, theft of property and criminal conspiracy.
“As a Liberian based human rights group with specific focus on anti-crime activism, we are calling on both the Upper and Lower House of the 54th National Legislature and the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) under the astute leadership of Cllr. Tiawon Gongloe Sr. and the Montserrado County Bar President Cllr. Samuel Cooper and other prosecuting attorneys to have this fraudster Nwabudike prosecuted,” Lartey intoned through the statement.
It can be recalled, Cllr. Nwabudike and five others were nominated by President George Weah to oversee the operations of the National Elections Commission for the next seven years.
Cllr. Nwabudike who claimed he was a naturalized Liberian and has since operated in Liberia with such understanding for over thirty years, failed to prove behind reasonable doubts that his Liberians citizenship was real.
Appearing before the Senate Committee on Autonomous Agencies and Commissions on May 31, 2020, the embattled NEC Chairman-designate struggled to prove his naturalized Liberian citizenship by failing to provide a valid certificate authenticating his naturalized status.
