NEC Chair Designate Digs His Own Grave

 The National Elections Commission (NEC) chair designate, Cllr. A. Ndubusi Nwabudike, yesterday miserably failed to authenticate his citizenship certificate as a naturalized Liberian.

 The Chairman designate provided  blurred copy of  his citizenship certificate that was unreadable  and the Committee requested  the nominee  to provide a clearer  one  to better inform  the  committee’s  decision over his nationality.

The nominee  was  asked whether  or not  he brought   his original  copy of the  citizenship  certificate as was requested  for  by the committee, and sadly, the nominee responded saying; “Honorable Senators, I do not have the original copy of my citizenship certificate”. 

The NEC’s Boss designate confirmed of having two dates of birth that he used in Liberia as “citizen”.  The nominee’s passport carried 1963 date of birth and, on his “Citizenship certificate” he also carried 1965 respectively, a situation which discouraged his supporters and the Committee.

 It can be recalled, nominee and Senator Varney Sherman had bitter exchanges over his   nationality citing the year he claimed he was born and the year the nominee said  he naturalized to be a citizen of Liberia.

the nominee disclosed that was born 1965 and naturalized in 1982 but the Senator Sherman argued that he lied. Senator Sherman clarified [1965-1982] means, the nominee was just 17 year which is a minor  age in Liberia that acquired nationality as the nominee divulged.

The Grand Cape Mount county Senator said the  nominee assertions on how he obtained the citizenship  contravenes the nationality law that says, one must be age 21 to be naturalized.Cllr. Sherman also said the nominee committed what he called perjury and as such, he should be denied.

 Also speaking, Senator Conmany Wesseh of River-Gee County said, said by virtue the nominee is unable to show his original citizenship and has confirmed of having double dates of birth and that the nominee is not a Liberian.

He mentioned that Cllr. A. Ndubusi Nwabudike has exposed his deals-indicating that he must be made to pay for it.

 He said for too long the nominee had deceived Liberia- adding; “He deceived the University of Liberia to get the Liberia Law Degree, deceived the Judicial system and was admitted to the Liberia Bar Association, deceived the President of the Republic of Liberia and the Liberian Senate to confirm as head of Liberia Anti- Corruption Commission (LACC) and has come again to deceive, us.” 

 However, following exchanges between senators and the nominee, the Committee’s Chair in an angry mood, prematurely dismissed the hearing and said, the nominee will hear from the Committee through the appointing power.

 Meanwhile,   the Liberian Senate voted to confirm five NEC nominees with the exception of the Chairperson Cllr. A. Ndubusi Nwabudike in plenary session prior to Cllr. Nwabudike’s public hearing.

 Those confirmed  by the Liberian senate include Davidetta Browne Lannsah, Co-Chair, Cllr. Ernestine Morgan-Awar, Commissioner, Floyd Sayor, Commissioner, Barsee Kpangbai, Commissioner and Josephine Kou-Gaye but Liberty Party’s political leader, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence  filed a motion of reconsideration over the confirmation of Floyd Sayor to be presented  in due times.   But reports gathered from some lawmakers from the bloc confirmed that the five nominees will still defeat Senator Lawrence’s motion.
