The Border Patrol Commander of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) in River Gee County, Albert Blah, is reportedly under probe in Nimba County.
A senior police officer in Sanniquellie revealed that a team of investigators from the Liberia National Police in collaboration with the LIS from Monrovia arrived in the county and is investigating the alleged flogging of Police officer Sweetie Berth.
According to the Police, the investigative team is headed by Randolph Dennis of the Professional Standard Division while the LIS is represented by a director only identify as Harmon.
It can be recalled that on December 16, 2024, officer Berth was reportedly flogged by Commander Albert Blah for an alleged delay in dropping gate for his vehicle in Nimba .
Since the incident leading to the unmercifully flogging of the LNP female officer Berh, both LNP and LIS authorities have since remained tight-lipped on the issue and investigation has since dragged on.
When contacted via mobile phone, police officer Sweetie Berth confirmed the presence of the team of investigators. She revealed that the team is comprised of LNP and LIS charged to carry out a joint security investigations leading to her been unlawfully and willfully flogged, which left her wounded.
“Before the investigation started in Sanniquellie, I was surprised to see some senior LIS officers who came to me and begged on behalf of patrol commander Blah and I refused to listen to them on grounds that the case is before the authority,” officer Berh explained.
“I don’t know who gave my phone number to Blah, he allegedly texted my telephone number to LIS Director Harmon saying that the accused has begged me and I agreed and waved the case. This information is a diabolical lie intended to make light of this case; we the female officers assigned in Nimba need justice in this case,” Police Berth lamented.
“LIS Blah clandestinely took my contact and texted it to Director Harmon That is heading the LIS investigation team saying that I willingly agreed and waved my case. The misinformation led Director Harmon to call me via mobile phone without finding out from me but concluded that since I already waved the case against the accused, the authority will decide what to do next,” Police Berh said.
When Commander Blah was contacted via mobile phone, he said the case has been lay to rest and said nothing further on the issue.
LIS Regional Commander Yei Dolopaye could not be reached by mobile phone as it was switched off up to press time and Dennis confirmed the investigation but on the issue, he didn’t reveal its outcome.
“The issue is very sensitive; you can use the Freedom of Information Act to get details of the investigations,” Dennis directed.
Meanwhile, it yet to be seen how accountability will play out for LIS’ Commander Albert Blah in his action while female police office Sweetie Berth awaits to see whether the concept of justice which should be for all, will equally be hers in this instant case without manipulation.
