The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, in partnership with the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), has launched a nationwide tower assessment tour.
This ambitious initiative, led by Minister Sekou M. Kromah, commenced in Grand Bassa County and is poised to reshape the future of telecommunications across the nation.
The tour aims to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of Liberia’s telecom infrastructure, identifying both strengths and weaknesses in the existing tower network.
By doing so, the initiative seeks to enhance the quality, reliability, and accessibility of telecom services, particularly in underserved regions where connectivity is vital for economic growth and social development.
Speaking on the importance of the assessment, Minister Kromah reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring all Liberians have access to efficient telecommunications services.
“Our commitment is unwavering: we aim to ensure that all Liberians have access to reliable and efficient telecommunications services. This assessment will highlight the challenges we face and serve as a blueprint for enhancing connectivity across the country,” said Minister Kromah.
Accompanying him on the mission are key officials, including Patrick Honnah, Acting Commissioner for Consumer, Public Affairs, and Universal Access, and Commissioner Clarence Massaquoi, Chair of Technology.
Their expertise will be instrumental in analyzing network efficiency and collaborating with stakeholders to develop strategic solutions.
A crucial aspect of the tour is engagement with local communities, service providers, and regional leaders.
The assessment team is actively collecting feedback to understand the unique telecommunications challenges faced by different regions.
Commissioner Honnah emphasized the importance of this consumer-centric approach.
“Our objective is to ensure that the public’s concerns are heard. By thoroughly evaluating the current infrastructure, we can address consumer issues more effectively and improve their overall experience with telecom services,” Honnah stated.
The information gathered during the tour will play a vital role in shaping future policies and investment strategies aimed at modernizing and expanding the country’s telecommunications sector.
The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the LTA view this initiative as a critical step toward fostering a technologically advanced Liberia.
The assessment will continue across various counties, ensuring that no region is left behind in the push for better connectivity.
As the tour progresses, the findings will help guide efforts to enhance mobile and internet services, reduce digital divides, and create a stronger foundation for technological growth in Liberia.
