Colombian Film On Reconciliation Celebrated

The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Colombia over the weekend celebrated its film festival titled written in Spanish “El día de la Cabra’ (Bad Lucky Goat)” in Liberia.
The event which took place at Royal Grand Hotel Thursday, February 13, 20202 was attended by Ambassadors, Charge d’Affaires, Honorary Consul Generals, Ministers of Government Universities Student Leaders and Heads of Institutions.
Providing an overview of the movie, Mr. Hussein Cheaitou, Honorary Consul General, narrated that the movie dubbed “El día de la Cabra’ (Bad Lucky Goat) is a 2017 Colombian film directed by Samir Oliveros is basically focused on reconciliation.
“The film focused on reconciliation, no matter the disagreement of two or more individuals, when there is a need to achieve a goal or a vision, there’s a need to reconcile for the betterment of finding a solution” he explained. That is what happened to Rita and Corn in the film (After accidentally hitting a goat with their father’s truck, Rita and Corn, two incompatible young brother and sister, embark on an adventure to try to get enough money to repair the truck. This trip will become a reconciliation experience for both,” Mr. He explained.
According to him, the film has been shown at important international events such as the Lima Film Festival, the Sydney Latin American film festival, the Milwaukee film festival and the Montreal film festival among many other festivals.
Amidst hands of applauds at the end of the film, those who attended event expressed how educative the film was and implored actors to see more of such event in Liberia.
Mr. Ellis Kingston, one of those Liberians who watched the film told our reporter during an interview that the film has message for Liberians to learn from.
He said with the theme “Reconciliation” it is his wish that the movie be played on national stations so that Liberians can actually monitor and see the value of reconciliation.
Mr. Kingston observed that politics has divided Liberia, noting that is a need for movie of such to be taught for people to know the value of unity in Liberia.
In closing, he used this medium to admonish the Liberian Movie Union which he noted doing a great job to use their talents to direct their movie in portraying similar drama- that, he said, will help to reconcile Liberia once again.
