Peabody Confirmed As Civil Law Court Judge

The former Monrovia City Court Magistrate assigned at the Temple of Justice, J. Kennedy Peabody has finally been confirmed by the Liberian Senate as Judge of the Civil Law Court of Montserrado County.
Magistrate Peabody was appointed by President George M. Weah to serve as the Resident Judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Civil Law Court of Montserrado County at the Temple of Justice after serving as Magistrate for several years.
His appointment by President George M. Weah to the position of Resident Judge of the Civil Law Court was highly welcomed among many of his colleagues.
A letter in the possession of this paper from the Liberian Senate dated February 13, 2020 to the President of Liberia indicated that, “Your Excellency, I have the honor to present my compliments and by directive of the Liberian Senate (INSESSION), apprise Your Excellency that the below named nominee forwarded to the Liberian Senate 3rd Session, 54th Legislature for confirmation consideration in compliance with Article 54 of the Constitution of the Republic of Liberia, was confirmed on Thursday , February 13, 2020” among other things naming him, J. Kennedy Peabody , Judge 6th Judicial Circuit Montserrado County Civil Law Court.
It was reported that, at the time of his appointment by President Weah, his name was whispered among judges and magistrates that early Friday morning on October 18, 2019 which broke loose and was posted on social media.
It was widely believed that he stood a better chance to pass the Liberian Senate confirmation hearing because of his experience in the judiciary and the past handling of major cases
Some of the major cases handled by Peabody were, cases involving some prominent citizens and the government of Liberia to include the state and Cllr. Moses Paegar, Cllr. Musa Dean (current Minister of Justice) ,Cyril Jones and others for contempt in the sable Mining case , the State vs Mulbah Morlu , Jeferson Koijee and others , the State vs Dugbeh A Dugbe and the National Housing Authority and most recently Charles Sirleaf and other involving the alleged 16B where he refused to grant bail and sent them to jail.
