The Ministry of Youth and Sports has attributed the five years consistency of Lofa County in the national county Sports meet to the full-time support rendered to the team by Senator Momo Cyrus.
The Ministry revealed that the lawmaker is fully participatory of and contributive to his county sporting agenda and has initiated several programs that continue to improve the teams’ performance in different disciplines during the County Meet.
Deputy Sports Minister Andy Quamie speaking Tuesday at the official cash awards presentation ceremony of the just ended competition revealed that the Lofa County senator’s intervention in the county’s sporting activities in the recent years is the result that the team is harvesting now appearing at grand finals of different editions back-to-back.
According to Minister Quamie, the Lofa County senator during the recent competition created a time despite his legislative function to follow the county team to Sinoe where they were paired in group for the preliminary stages of the event.
“It is good to give people their flowers while alive and this is why today I must appreciate Senator Momo Cyrus for his support to Lofa County. This man has been standing by the team in the last five plus years. His support and involvement have made the Lofa Team very consistent in the last five years,” Minister Quamie asserted.
He added that throughout the competition this year, the presence of officials from others counties were not observed at the field and basketball gymnasium during the qualifiers until during the final stage where they paraded to the stadium in the name of lending support to the boys from their counties.
The minister encouraged other officials of different counties to emulate the good examples of Senator Cyrus as a way to grab attention to the sporting sector of the country so that gains can be made to the thousands of young people engaged in playing football and other games.
“We want to say to other counties officials to follow your good work, senator Cyrus. If you want to win, put everything in and don’t only attend the finals when the county meet comes to Monrovia,” He called out.
