The Assistant Minister for Industry at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Uriah Bryant, has made significant contributions to both the sports and the media sectors in Liberia.
During a recent visit, Bryant presented a donation of L$30,000 to the Bassa Sports Association, marking his first public contribution since assuming office.
The gesture is aimed at strengthening the team’s efforts and promoting youth participation in athletics.
Bryant emphasized that his support reflects a broader commitment to empowering young people through sports, which he sees as a vital tool for community building and national pride.
“This is not just about sports,” Bryant remarked. “It’s about creating opportunities for our youth to thrive, learn teamwork, and showcase their talents on a national stage.”
In addition to supporting sports, Bryant also turned his attention to the media, acknowledging its pivotal role in promoting local events and ensuring accountability.
He donated L$20,000 to media institutions responsible for covering sporting activities in Bong County.
The contribution is intended to enhance their capacity to report effectively on events and bring attention to local talent.
Bryant’s donations have been widely praised as a reflection of his commitment to grassroots development.
By simultaneously supporting athletics and media, the Assistant Minister aims to create a synergy between two critical sectors that contribute to Liberia’s cultural and social growth.
“We need to invest in our people and the platforms that amplify their voices and achievements,” Bryant said. “Both sports and media have the power to unite and inspire communities, and I’m proud to play a part in that.”
The Bassa Sports Association expressed gratitude for Bryant’s support, noting that the funds will be used to address immediate needs and enhance the team’s performance.
Similarly, representatives from the media institutions applauded the initiative, stating that it would help them provide more comprehensive coverage of sports in Bong County.
This move underscores Bryant’s broader vision of community engagement and development, setting a tone of collaboration and support as he continues his tenure at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
