UL Student Donates Globe To Alma Matar In Nimba

A student at the state-run University of Liberia donated a globe to the administration of Ganta United Methodist School (GUMS) in Nimba County as a teaching aid.
Speaking to this media outlet, Harry W. Gbusseh, a student of the College of Engineering, stated that the globe will be useful for students studying geography.
“The globe will help our students to learn about time calculation, locating places, and the degree measurement of longitude and latitude,” he added.
According to Gbusseh, the donation will relieve geography teachers of the daunting task of drawing a globe during instructional periods.
He said also the globe will be used to demonstrate related geographical lessons that will lead to students developing an interests in studying geography.
“I taught in this school for several years, and many of the students are not interested in studying geography. But with this globe, the lesson will be more easy for the students,” Gbusseh believed.
“I am an engineering student attending the University of Liberia. In 2023, I donated an aircraft (teaching aid) that I made and presented it to the University of Liberia to be used in the library,” Gbusseh narrated.
Speaking on behalf of the school administration, Principal James Y. Korlorblee, thanked student Gbusseh for the teaching aid globe which will be used in teaching and learning geography.
“I highly appreciate this globe that labels time calculations of North, South, West, and East degrees of longitudes and latitudes,” Principal Korlorblee pointed out.
Speaking further, the Chairperson of the Board GUMS, Boimah Quoibiah, described the donation of the globe as welcoming in the wake of mass failure in the national examination in the Nimba Schools System.
“Mr. Principal make sure teachers make use of this globe as a teaching aid to the advantage of the students,” Chairman Boimah stressed.
