Information gathered that the Police in Tappita, Nimba County have arrested, charged, and forwarded to court a 53-year-old man identified as Prince Wogbeh, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
According to the report, the survivor’s grandmother, narrated that the incident occurred during the night hours of Tuesday, October 28, 2024, in central Tappita Community.
Speaking to a team of rural reporters recently, she also explained that during the night hours of Tuesday, she had gone in the room to check on her grandchildren but only to discover that the survivor was not in bed as usual.
“So, when I asked her friends for her whereabouts, they said they did not know and it was something that prompted me to have embarked upon a search for my granddaughter,” she said.
According to her, while in search of her granddaughter, she found her by 2 a.m. in a room belonging to the alleged rapist, disclosing that upon seeing her child, she immediately raised an alarm which brought around, scores neighbors, resulting into the arrest of Mr. Wogbeh.
Meanwhile, the case was reported to the Liberia National Police (LNP) Women and Children Protection Section in Tappita the following day, as the rape suspect was picked up by the police for interrogations.
Wogbeh has however denied raping the 13-year-old, according to LNP Tappita detachment’s Women and Children Protection Section’s chief, Solomon Dennis.
But a medical report from the Jackson Fiah Doe Memorial Hospital confirmed that the teenager was sexually tampered with.
