Liberia, Ghana Forge Strategic Partnership On Public Sector Service Delivery

The Liberia Civil Service Agency (CSA) has officially entered into a strategic partnership with Ghana aimed at bolstering public sector service delivery.
This significant collaboration follows a series of high-level meetings with prominent figures from Ghana’s public administration, focusing on the exchange of best practices and the alignment of civil service reforms between the two West African nations.
During the signing ceremony, CSA Director, Josiah Joekai, highlighted his productive discussions with Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, Chairman of the Ghana Civil Service Commission; Stella Agyenim-Boateng, Vice Chairperson of the Public Service Commission; and Benjamin Arthur, Chief Executive of the Fair Wage and Salaries Commission.
The meetings concluded with a consensus to form a joint technical working group dedicated to enhancing public sector efficiency and governance in both Liberia and Ghana.
A primary objective of this partnership is Liberia’s ongoing reform of its pay grade system, which Joekai emphasized as a crucial aspect of civil service restructuring.
Ghana’s Fair Wage and Salaries Commission has pledged to share its comprehensive framework for wage and salary structures, and will also send technical experts to Liberia.
These specialists are expected to provide invaluable assistance to the CSA in refining Liberia’s pay grades, a move seen as essential for fostering a fairer and more accountable public sector.
The insights and support from Ghana will be invaluable as we work to enhance our civil service structure in Liberia.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward building a more effective, efficient, and equitable public sector in both Ghana and Liberia.
The discussions come at a time when the Liberian Government is intensifying its efforts to tackle various civil service challenges, including issues related to compensation and administrative governance.
Meanwhile, under Jokai’s leadership, the civil service reform agenda has been a top priority, with a focus on implementing more transparent and accountable management systems.
The continuation of prior discussions in Monrovia, underscores Jokai’s commitment to strengthening Liberia’s public administration capabilities through regional cooperation.
The partnership with Ghana is being regarded as a pivotal move for Liberia in its quest to establish a more transparent, fair, and effective public sector that meets the needs of its citizens.
By learning from Ghana’s experiences and best practices, Liberia’s CSA aims to drive meaningful improvements in its public sector operations, ultimately enhancing service delivery and governance for the benefit of all Liberians.
