Aggrieved workers of Liberia Electricity Corporation ( LEC) in Nimba are calling on President George Weah, to investigate the management of LEC to settle their five-year salary arrears in Nimba county.
Emmanuel M. Sann Sr. the spokesperson of the group, told the Inquirer that 113 workers were recruited early 2012 to work with the company at various stations in the county and that some of them took assignment in Karnplay Gbelay Geh District, Saclepea Mah District, Ganta Bain Garr District and Sanniquellie Mah District to monitor and supervise the smooth running of the company between customers respectively to be paid at the end of every month.
Speaking over the weekend, the spokesman added that the 113 workers recruited worked for five years and were later promised by the management to pay them but refused and later turned the LEC to Jungle Energy Power to take over the company without paying the workers.
He further emphasized that the case was taken to Senator Prince Johnson in demand of salary arrears owed by the LEC.
