LFA’s 1st Division League Starts Today

Today, October 16, 2024 is the official kickoff of the Liberia National First Division League with several mouth-watering fixtures underway.
The 2024/2025 league campaign is kicking off with high anticipation from 14 topflight clubs that will run the domestic sport scene for the football season.
The LFA first division league is Liberia’s premier football competition that produces the country representative to the Confederation of African Football champion’s league at the end of every season giving local clubs the opportunity to participate in continental sporting program and marketing of talents for financial improvement.
Over the years, the league has been a beacon of hope for Liberian players to showcase their talent across the country and stay engaged in footballing activities as a way of empowering themselves as local athletes.
During this season, it is expected that the game will show a face of entertainment and inspiration for Liberians especially at a time where the Liberian national struggle for quality players’ selection for continental competitions continue to end fruitless.
The country in recent times has been classified as a non-sport nation by frustrated Liberian because of reported pool of quality of sport administration and lack investment in the sector.
With several challenges confronting football in the country, every stakeholder will have to rally the best efforts that will contribute to the growth of the game.
The 2024/2025 league season starting today will welcome three newly promoted clubs to it exciting actions after three teams were relegated at the end of last season to grant them a space in the topflight.
Debutants such as Discoveries Football Club, Blackman Warriors and Shaita Football Clubs are all on the line to start their struggle on the pitch in a competition that will feature teams of long-time history.
For the Blackman Warriors the debut day is a repeated fixture from last season against Discoveries who were one of their pressuring opponents in the edition of the Second Divisions League. The debutants will set the start of the campaign at the D. Tweh sports pitch in the Borrough of Kru Town.
As for Shaita FC, the season welcomes them to first division with a fresh meeting Freeport FC at the open-air Nancy Doe Sports Stadium.
In the rest of the matches, Watanga as Champions will start defending their title against Former champions LISCR FC at the Samuel Kanyon Doe sports Complex in Paynesville city, while Mighty Barrolle will take Heaven Eleven to the Doris Williams Sports pitch in Buchanan.
Paynesville FC and Global Pharma will face-off at SKD as Invincible Eleven meets LPRC Oilers at the TUSA field.
At the examination Hall of Liberian football in the Antionette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia, the money spending Missionaries of FC Fassell will lock horns with Bea Mountain FC.
