The administrator of the Liberia Land Authority (LLA) in Nimba County, Eddie Beangar, has disclosed that several pieces of property (land) belonging to the government have been surveyed in some districts within the county.
Speaking to this outlet, Beangar explained that the survey of the government’s land is designed to prevent land disputes and, the selling of government land, among other things, in the county.
According to Beangar, Nimba County is comprised of nine electoral districts that are gifted with government and public facilities that are under the jurisdiction of the Government of Liberia.
“The Old Military Barrack, John Wesley Pearson Campus, the Welcome Gate Parcel of Land between Nimba and Bong, the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Hall in Saclepea, are among government properties that have been surveyed,” LLA administrator Beangar boasted.
Speaking further, Beangar disclosed that the exercise is designed to prevent encroachment on government and public land by some residents in the county.
Nimba is one of the 15 counties of Liberia that tops land disputes, and land-related conflicts, according to the office of LLA in the country.
It can be recalled that between 2022-23, the illegal sale of public and government land has linked the outgoing mayors of Gompa, Sanniquellie, Tappita, Karnplay, Saclepea, and Buutuo, thereby fueling serious concern among the residents in the county.
Since the induction of the newly appointed administrator of LLA, Beangar reports leading to the arrest of fake surveyors, investigative land surveys, and inventory land surveys of public and government land are reportedly on the increase in the county.
“This exercise will stop all forms of land dispute, land violence, and other forms of land-related conflicts among the residents in the county,” LLA Beangar revealed.
