“I Will Dispense Justice With My Conscience” —New Associate Justice Vows

The newly appointed Associate Justice, Ceaineh Clinton Johnson, has vowed to dispense justice with her conscience; without external interference.
Associate Clinton Johnson also promised to uphold what she calls “legal integrity” in her position as she has done in the past.
Justice Johnson made the statement during her formal seating ceremony at the Supreme Court chamber on August 29, 2024.
She assured the people of Liberia of her commitment to serve with distinction among her colleagues and to make the difference within the country’s justice system.
Justice Clinton Johnson emphasized that the justice system will function based on the law and will not be influenced by any external forces.
Justice Johnson highlighted the danger of justice tampering, noting. “When the justice system is tampered with by politicians and government officials, the stability of the nation is jeopardized.”
She pledged her commitment to serving her country diligently, emphasizing that her decisions will be guided by the principles guiding the rule of law and due legal process, free from political interference.
She expressed gratitude to President Joseph Boakai, former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the Senate, her family, and others for their support which led to her preferment.
Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene G. Yuoh remarked on the importance of impartiality in the court, urging all judges to treat everyone equally and prioritize adherence to the rule of law.
Justice Yuoh behalf of the Supreme Court Bench, warmly welcomed Associate Justice Johnson to fulfill her duties with transparency and dedication in upholding the integrity of the law.
Justice Minister Oswald Tweh, pledged the government’s continuous support to the newly inducted Associate Justice and promised to work with her through the Justice Ministry.
Meanwhile, the President of the Liberian National Bar Association Cllr. Sylvester D. Rennie has congratulated the newly inducted Justice and pledged the LNBA’s support aimed at fostering cordial relationship between the Bar and the Bench.
