PYIFC Gets Humanitarian Award

One organization making a significant difference is the Progressive Youth Initiative for Change (PYIFC), a Liberian-owned nonprofit led by Thomas Cooper amid the economic challenges faced by Liberia and many other countries, the need for impactful institutions to alleviate financial burdens on citizens, especially the youth, has become increasingly evident.
In recognition of his relentless dedication to humanity, the Independent Media Association of Liberia (IMAOL) honored Mr. Cooper, CEO of PYIFC, over the weekend for his outstanding contributions to youth capacity building and advocacy for women’s and girls’ rights across Liberia.
Speaking on behalf of the association during the weekend, in the conference room of PYIFC in Gardnersville, Eric Freeman, Vice president of IMAOL, highlighted the crucial role Cooper has played in improving the lives of ordinary Liberians, particularly underprivileged children.
Freeman noted that Cooper has assisted over 100 parents annually in paying their children’s school fees and providing them with necessary school materials.
“Our decision to honor Thomas Cooper stems from his unwavering commitment to youth capacity building and advocacy for women’s and girls’ rights across Liberia,” Freeman said.
He added that Cooper’s significant contributions to humanity and the upliftment of Liberia have earned him the title of ‘Best Young Performing Diaspora Male Liberian Humanitarian of the Year 2023/2024’.
Freeman emphasized, “Mr. Cooper’s tireless work in healthcare, youth development, and women and girls’ empowerment has made us proud to recognize his efforts today.”
Cooper, speaking via phone, expressed gratitude for the recognition and reiterated his commitment to humanitarian efforts.
“We are dedicated to serving our people by improving healthcare delivery, enhancing youth capacity development, empowering women and girls, and continuing our back-to-school program for children. I am thrilled that our hard work has been acknowledged by the Liberian media, and my team and I extend our thanks to IMAOL for this honor. We pray for unity among all Liberians,” Cooper said.
