Liberia Opens Book Of Condolence For US Congresswoman

The United States of America joined by other countries are mourning a true patriot and human rights advocate, US Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, who passed away recently in the US.
The news of her death has sent shockwaves across the globe, with many world leaders and dignitaries including Liberian officials paying tribute to her legacy and contributions to society and the world at large.
In respect to her memory, Speaker Fonati Kofa was joined by an array of officials and civil society leaders at the Liberia Crusaders for Peace (LCP) headquarters for the signing of a book of condolence of the late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.
The LCP through its Executive Director, Ambassador Juli Endee, opened a book of condolence for Lee in Liberia as a mark of respect for her numerous contributions to humanity and the rule of law worldwide.
Congresswoman Lee is a 2024 recipient of the Golden Image Award, Liberia’s premiere honor awarded during the 177th Independence Day celebration in Monrovia.
The late Congresswoman Lee was honored in absentia in July as Global Champion on the Rule of Law, making Liberia the last to honor such a great fighter for Justice and Trailblazer.
The late Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was the democratic Chief Deputy Whip for the U.S. House of Representatives as well as the author and lead sponsor of the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act, which established the first new federal holiday in 38 years.
Speaker Koffa described Congresswoman Jackson Lee as a “true champion of justice and equality” and a patriot who was so passionately about humanity and expressed deep sorrow at the passing of the esteemed Congresswoman, whom he described as a “trailblazer in the fight for human rights and social justice.”
“Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was a beacon of hope and inspiration for all those who knew her and worked with her as well as her tireless efforts to promote equality and justice for all will forever be remembered and cherished,” Speaker Koffa maintained.
He praised Congresswoman Lee for her unwavering commitment and contributions to Liberia, adding, “Sheila Jackson Lee was a true patriot who dedicated her life to fighting for the rights of the marginalized and oppressed. Her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.”
Earlier, LCP’s Executive Director Juli Endee said the death of Congresswoman Lee has created a deep void in the hearts of the many people she has touched around the world.
She added that even though Congresswoman Lee’s passing has left a void in the hearts of many, her legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched and the causes she championed.
Meanwhile, other dignitaries in attendance all paid tribute to Congresswoman Jackson Lee, highlighting her remarkable achievements and contributions to society, adding she was a “fierce advocate for justice and equality.”
