CBL Board Inducts Acting Governor, Others …As Tarlue Runs For Prohibition Against Suspension

The suspended Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), Aloysius J. Tarlue has prayed the high court for a Writ of Prohibition over what he described as “illegal” his suspension by the President.

Tarlue’s legal team, in its petition to the Justice in Chambers of the Supreme Court, Yussif D. Kaba cites Section 13.1 of the Amended and Restated Act establishing the Central Bank of Liberia in 1999 as it’s reliance.

The lawyers, in their petition filed August 2, 2024, argued that their client had a definite 5-year term to serve and could not be dismissed or removed from performing his function by the President except through impeachment by the Legislature.

Meanwhile, amidst the writ of prohibition prayed for, the Board of Commissioners at the CBL has already inducted the acting governor along with his team with a mandate to begin their respective duties.

What is perceived as another unprecedented move by the Boakai -led team is to induct an official who is acting and give them full authority as if they were proper.

Meanwhile, those inducted were Acting Executive Governor, Henry F. Saamoi, Chairman; Messrs. George H. Gooding, member; Joseph F. Robertson, member; and Cllr. Ebenezer Z. Gibson, member.

 Details to follow subsequently.
