Orange Launches 2019/2020 National County Sports Meet Promotions

The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Management of Orange Liberia have jointly announced the formal launching of the Orange promotions for the 2019/2020 National County Sports Meet. The announcement was made at a major press conference held at the Sinkor 13th Street Orange Store in Monrovia on Monday.
The Honorable Youth and Sports Minister Dester Zeogar Wilson thanked Orange for the partnership, which is entering its seconds straight year. Said Minister Wilson: “I am delighted to be here today.
Orange is a proud sponsor of the National County Sports Meet this year again. Because of our cooperation and the level of transparency they decided to sign with us again and we are grateful for this partnership and will continue to work with them.”
Announcing a readjusted timetable which was necessary in order to honor the burial of the late Cllr. Charles Brumskine, Deputy Minister for Sports Honorable G. Andie Quamie said that the first games of the County meet would be held in Buchanan, Grand Bassa on the 4th of January with subsequent initial games on the 5th being held concurrently in Grand Bassa, Lofa, Maryland and Grand Cape Mount. Subsequently, second round games would take place on the 8th of January followed by final county rounds on the 11th of January. Minister Quamie explained that the quarter finals will run on the 18th and 19th of January followed closely by the semi-finals on the 22nd and the finals on the 26th.
As part of this year’s county meet, Orange unveiled a plethora or special promotions and activities in celebration of the very popular sporting event. Chief Sales Officer Isaac Muthama disclosed that the tickets needed to attend the games from quarter finals up to the finals at SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville were already available at various Orange points of sales (POS) and stores across the country.
There are 3 categories of tickets: Around the field , sold at 150 LRD, Stadium Wing, sold at 500 LRD and Around VIP, sold at $10. Mr. Muthama revealed that each ticket would give subscribers 10 free minutes of voice calls and 10 SMS to Orange numbers.
“We have made it this way so once you purchase a ticket to the County Meet, everybody is a winner,” Mr. Muthama said. “All you have to do is scratch your ticket like a scratch card and send the hidden code to *128# to receive your free minutes and SMS.”
He went on to explain that Orange stores in Monrovia located in Red Light, Sinkor 13th Street and Capitol Bye Pass would include mini soccer scoring games where customers could take a penalty shot and if successful get a a chance to spin the Orange Football wheel of fortune for the chance to win hundreds of prizes. Mr. Muthama also pointed out that Orange’s mobile music truck would be traveling to various communities with more games and activities all centered around the County Meet.
Mr. Chateau, Chief Marketing, Communication and Customer Experience Officer announced the official launch of the Data Football Pack. Subscribers wanting to activate the data pack promotion simply have to dial *101# and receive 500MB of high speed internet valid for 3 days.
The same code can also be used to predict winners of the games and all customers who predict correctly will get an addition 500 MB of internet valid for an extra 4th day. Said Mr. Chateau: “500 MB valid 3 days for only $1 is already a great promotion. But every time there will be a game, football fans will be able to predict the winner for free by dialing *101#. If their prediction is correct, they will receive 500 MB extra for free.
This is 1 GB for $1 valid 4 days.”
In addition to the promotions, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility Ms. Sara Buchanan announced the continuation of the “Games for Change” program. Launched during the National County Sports Meet last year, the Games for Change allows sports fans to collect and recycle plastic waste which usually litters soccer pitches during and after games.
Ms. Buchanan said that this year, fans could get prizes immediately after turning over their thrash to an agent at designated Games for Change trash bins which will be placed at each venue. Ms. Buchanan detailed that fans who brought 10 empty plastic or water sachets would get a wrist band, 25 plastics would get a vuvuzela, 250plastics would receive a t-shirt, while 100 or more bags would receive a brand-new Orange branded soccer ball. She noted however that the prizes would be given out on a “first come, first serve basis.”
Ho. Minister D. Zeogar Wilson said he was overwhelmed by the level of support and activities Orange Liberia had put together for the tournament and was especially ecstatic by the “gigantic trophy,” which the football winner would take home. He encouraged sports fan to support Orange by buying its products and services because the more they did so, the more the company could invest in support of sports and youth in Liberia.
“Support the various promotions Orange has announced because by doing so you are not just supporting Orange, but you are supporting your country.” He encouraged sports fans to also participate in the Games of Change to help keep the stadium clean.
