By Grace Q. Bryant
The House of Representatives has endorsed a report from its Ad-hoc Committee on the validation of the implementation of the Bea Mountain Mining Corporation.
According to the Committee’s investigation and validation conducted, the Management of Bea Mountain Mining Corporation has not fully executed the full recommendations stipulated in its report.
The Special Legislative Intervention Committee stated that some of the recommendations are long-term initiative, whilst some are the prerogative of the government functionaries including the Environmental protection Agency (EPA), the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education (MOE), but it is evidential that the Management of BEA Mountain Corporation has dully taken substantial steps in implementing those recommendations as enshrined in the petitions which has restored calm within the operations areas of the BMMC.
The Report Stated that the committee also recommended that relevant ministries and agencies carryout their functions to ensure full compliance of the provision of the MDA by BEA Mountain in the interest of the Workers.
Following the reading and subsequent floor debate, the plenary endorsed the recommendations contained in the report mandating the Bea Mountain Mining Corporation to adhere to all the recommendations as well as relevant government ministries and agencies to ensure that the mining company executes full implementation.
