The Administration of the Liberia National Police (LNP) has with immediate effect suspended two of its officers for one month without salary for abuse of authority and disobeying lawful orders.
The suspended officers are Patrolman Teddy R. C Boulner (ID# 6351) and Gabriel Flomo (ID# 6017) assigned at zone five base police station, and Lofa county detachment respectively.
The two officers were seen riding on a motorbike without wearing helmets, which contravened section 6.1.3 “Abuse of Authority” and 6.4(a) “Disobeying Lawful Orders” and enshrined in the administrative instructions on Discipline and Professional Standards.
Meanwhile, those suspended officers have been ordered to turn over all government properties including badges, uniforms, ID-Cards, Boots and desist from identifying with the LNP while undergoing their suspension to avoid further embarrassment.
The Liberia National Police has however cautions all other officers to take keen note and act accordingly as it will not relent to reprimand any violators of the rules and regulations of the state.
Recently, the government embarked on the implementation of the new ‘No Go Zone’ policy for motorcyclists in central Monrovia in an effort to curb the rising cases of accidents and criminal activities involving motorcyclists.
Recently, the government embarked on the implementation of the new ‘No Go Zone’ policy for motorcyclists in central Monrovia in an effort to curb the rising cases of accidents and criminal activities involving motorcyclists.
This policy, according to an agreement reached between the Liberia National Police (LNP) and NAFOMTAL, prohibits motorcyclists and Kehkeh riders from operating in certain designated areas, known as ‘No Go Zones’, during day and night hours.
However, under the revised measures, motorcyclists are allowed to operate on the principal streets of Monrovia under certain restrictions, ranging from mandatory registration to insurance coverage, and the operation of motorcycles with only one passenger wearing a helmet.
Also, for the safety measures, they are to use reflective jackets and protective shoes at all times, while Kehkehs, before using similar routes, must be registered, insured, and are only allowed to carry three passengers and a valid driver’s license.
