The former National Chairperson of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Mulbah K. Morlu, has officially tendered in his resignation from the party to assume a new role in civil society.
Morlu, founder of the Solidarity and Trust for a New Day (STAND), a non-political civil society and advocacy organization, was however chosen as its Chairperson and Lead Advocate.
STAND is a diverse organization committed to eradicating impunity in Liberia without allegiance to any political ideology or party.
The organization’s mission is to forge a new path for Liberia, focusing on combating injustice, corruption, poverty, and hunger in a country endowed with abundant natural resources.
In his resignation letter addressed to the National Executive Committee of CDC, Morlu highlighted reasons behind his decision and expressed gratitude for the support he received during his tenure in various capacities within the CDC, including his role as National Chairperson.
The former CDD chairperson emphasized that his new position at STAND requires his full dedication and a commitment to uphold the highest ethical standards to ensure impartiality and nonpartisanship in their advocacy efforts and cited those as noble causes which hold the promise of a brighter future for Liberia and require unwavering commitment and ethical conduct.
Morlu’s resignation from CDC underscores his dedication to maintaining neutrality in his new role and by stepping away from his political affiliations, he aims to ensure that STAND’s actions remain impartial and focused on the greater good of the Liberian populace.
He further expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the National Executive Committee and the esteemed members of CDC for their unwavering support over the years, acknowledging the various capacities in which he served and the experiences that have shaped his journey.
Morlu also extended an open invitation to his numerous supporters, well-wishers, admirers, and the larger society to join him in his civil society initiatives and called on them to work together towards carving out a brighter future for Liberia.
The decision, he added is intended to build trust and credibility for the organization, allowing it to operate without the constraints of political biases, adding that he envisions a collaborative effort to address the critical issues facing Liberia.
Morlu added that STAND’s initiatives will focus on promoting social justice, transparency, and accountability, aiming to create a society where every citizen can thrive.
