Over LD600, 000 Scandal Rocks Gompa Market Leadership

The Superintendent of the Gompa Market, Josephine Zarwolo and staff are refusing to speak about some L$ 600, 000 corruption allegation linking the former Market Superintendent Tennie Youg.
Mary Tiah accused the outgoing Superintendent Tennie Youg and some officials working with the market of diverting the money into their personal use.
According to market woman Tiah, some of the staff recently appointed to work with the incoming Superintendent Zarwolo are part of the corruption syndicate.
“Some of the staff appointed to steer the affairs of the market are the same people that rule this general market for over 13 years without opening a bank account for the marketers,” Tiah disclosed.
“The new market superintendent and her group need to explain to marketers their development plans for the market; we want to know about the dispute from the market land survey,” some aggrieved marketers disclosed.
Since the beginning of 2022-2024, the alleged report of corruption, misapplication of public funds of amounting to some LD 600, 000 for developments couple with other malpractices is reportedly hampering the smooth running of the market.
During the beginning of June 2024, LMA Nimba branch dismissed Superintendent Yogh with immediate effect thereby replacing her with Superintendent Zawolo.
Since the suspension of outgoing market superintendent and the appointment of Superintendent Zarwolo, the LMA Nimba branch officials remain tight-lipped over the alleged disappearance of over LD 600, 000.
Superintendent Zarwolo said she was mandated by LMA’s Superintendent Winifred Gaye in Sanniquellie not speak to the press.
