Cities Alliance Launches Biogas System

The Cities Alliance over the weekend launched a new Biogas system aimed at implementing waste to energy innovation approaches at the Isaac A. David School at the ELWA Junction in Paynesville.
Cities Alliance is a global partnership for poverty reduction and promoting the role of cities in sustainable development, as they bring together organizations with different perspectives and expertise on city issues around common goals-Well-run; productive cities that provide opportunities for all residents.
Giving an overview of the project, Cities Alliance Country’s Programme Manager, Francisco Juarez Lopez said the project focuses on controlling waste based management in Liberia-while striving to build resilient cities in the country.
He added that the project is a European Union (EU) funded project in the amount of $2 million Euro and is to last up to 2020.
He said, they are extremely elated to launch the project at the Isaac A. David School-noting that Isaac A. David School is one of their sole partners in ensuring that the project yields fruit.
Also in remarks, the EU Representative, Ivan Borisavljevic applauded Cities Alliance for the initiative and said further that the waste management is something that has affected the country for so many years- while pledging EU’s unwavering supports towards the implementation of the project.
Speaking earlier, Christine Tolbert Norman from the Isaac A. David institution lauded the Cities Alliance for choosing her institution to be the first school among many schools for the launching of the project. She said it was never a mistake for her school to be chosen as their works over the years had proven to be a worthy school in the country.
For his part, Paynesville City Cooperation City Manager, Stanle Zan lauded the team for the project emphasizing that the project is not an ordinary project but a project that will add value to the existing waste management as well as to help in the growing of crops.
