The Monrovia Technology Summit has launched a two-day summit for digital transformation landscape, to impact young Liberians with essential digital skills to thrive in an increasingly digital world in Liberia.
On Tuesday May 28, 2024, the summit was held in Monrovia, under the theme; ‘Empowering Youth Through Digital Skills, to advance the country’s digital future.’
Making remarks at the summit, the founder and Summit Director, Peterking Quaye, said the summit is not just an event but a movement committed to bring change and provide a vital platform for the youth of Liberia.
According to him, Tech is the future for every country, and its platform is a significant step forward in Liberia’s journey towards a digitally inclusive society, ensuring that youth are not only consumers but also creators and leaders in the global tech landscape.
“This initiative aims to create opportunities for young Liberians to educate others in the tech space, share ideas, and see a way that they can also come for a career in ICT,” Quaye said.
“Our aim here is to make sure that we gather annually, the experts of Liberia origin, across the world; we are happy this year that we have Americans that are participating in the event, who will also be sharing with us their career experience and how they got to where they are today,” he concluded.
The founder and CEO of Gonet Academy, Mohammed Kerkulah, extended appreciation to the organizers for such a brilliant summit that will not just empower young people but will also build digital infrastructure to enhance communication and service delivery across sectors.
We have also decided to support technology, Gonet Academy is an innovative and creative learning Institution and our internet is capacity buildings, of recent we also saw the need of adding technology to our programs, not just to meet that need but to also ensure that we reach the gab.
“What we are solving is having limited knowledge skills not just among young people but even professionals who are employed, our programs have attracted hundreds of professionals and we have excitedly graduated over 900 plus professionals across the 15 counties with fourteen courses,” Kerkulah said.
Over the years we have been able to use technology to connect Liberians from across the 15 counties, to learn on our platforms without worrying about traveling to Monrovia to access professional skills.
Meanwhile, one of the partners Kolakash
said that, we are very passionate about empowering innovation and connecting young people to technology, technology is about to get a new mind exploding new ideas and sifting the future of our country.
