The House Committee on Education has been mandated to Probe the Ministry of Education for allowing WASSCE to administer exams at 7pm in Yarpa Town, Rivercess County.
Plenary reached the decision Thursday, May 23 and this decision was based on a communication from Rep. Steve Tequah of Electoral District 2, Rivercess County in which he complained about the late hours of the administration of WASSCE been in Yarpa Town.
“I am writing to request your assistance in inviting the Minister of Education to provide an explanation for the decision to have administered the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) test on May 21, 2024, at 7pm,”he informed his colleagues.
Rep. Tequah also stated that the timing of the examination raised questions about the fairness and accessibility of the testing process for all students as well as the credibility of its results, averring that administering the exam at such hours could potentially disadvantage students who do not perform at their best during night hours.
“I believe that plenary intervention in this matter will help shed light on the reasons behind this decision and provide clarity to the people of Rivercess,” Rep. Tequah stated.
Following the reading of the communication, the communication turn over to the Committee on Education with instruction to report in two weeks.
