Defeated presidential candidate, Jeremiah Z. Whapoe of the Vision for Liberia Transformation Party (VOLT), asserts that President Boakai will struggle to deliver to the Liberian people.
Speaking on the Joy FM Evening Drive talk-show, Whapoe stated that President Boakai will struggle and find it difficult because his inner circle is crowded with individual political interests, rather than general goals.
According to him, the President’s inner circle is so much more concerned about job distribution than job creation, contrary to what the President envisioned, evidenced by the duplications of official names, as was seen in the case of the Deputy Minister of Health and many others.
“There are too many power-greedy officials around the President; he is a good man and has a good heart. I feel so sorry for him because the people he has around him are insincere,” he said.
“The President has good intentions for the country, he will deliver Liberia, but he has to take care of his inner circle, because they have separate interests outside of his goals, vision, and plans for Liberia; he wants to create jobs while his inner circle has plans of giving jobs,” Whapoe stated.
“It is totally wrong for a position to be given to two people, as seen under this government; the duplication of positions is part of the things he struggles with,” he narrated.
“See what happened to the position of the Deputy Minister of Health; there are so many things that are happening which are out of control, and those things happen when people have their individual interests, against the initial goal of the President,” he added.
He concluded that Boakai is still his good friend, stating, “Despite the fact that we are not close like before because of his busy schedule, I’m willing to work with his government since we both have an interest in agriculture and developing Liberia.”
