The Administrator of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Linda Birch, has pledged her commitment to deliver adequate and affordable healthcare to Liberians with her institution’s proposed budget in the country’s Fiscal Year 2024 national budget.
She spoke at the ongoing budget hearing of the Legislature Joint Committee on Ways, Means and Finance.
The proposed expenditure component given to JFK in the FY2024 budget is to the tune of US$7.1 million.
According to her, said investment would significantly enhance the hospital’s capabilities and enable it to maintain its reputation as a leading referral healthcare provider in the country.
She noted further that the funds would primarily be used for upgrading facilities, purchasing advanced medical equipment, and recruiting highly skilled medical professionals and ensuring the full maintenance of the facility.
“If the amount requested for in the budget, the US$7.1 million, is given to us, we can promise that JFK will be second to none, and we will ensure that the hospital will continue to offer superior care, attract high-caliber medical personnel and stay at the forefront of medical advancement,” she intoned.
Birch further emphasized the importance of investing in healthcare infrastructure, stating that it was essential to ensure the wellbeing of the community and keep up with the growing demand for quality medical services.
She then highlighted that the proposed budget allocation was a sound investment that would yield substantial returns in terms of improved health outcomes, increased patient satisfaction, and economic benefits to the local area.
