The journey for spot defense in the Liberia football Association National first Division league have ended for Cece United Football Academy and The National Port Authority (NPA) Anchors as they both sit in the bottom places of the league table with a huge points deficit.
After 24 league matches for the 2023/2024 season Cece United and the NPA Anchors conceded the highest defeat as individual clubs and failed to meet the tabular ranking that could continue their participation in the nation’s topflight football league.
The ongoing season has been one of the greatest night mares of NPA anchors since last September. The team got promotion to the topflight at the end of the last football season alongside Global Pharma Paynesville Football Clubs.
From the debut of the team in the first league, they recorded the least performance throughout the entire competition ranging from conceding the highest goals as a club totaling 61 in 23 matches and scoring the least 19. Throughout the season NPA has only won a single league match and draw two out of their played matches. They loss 20 matches and now have three matches remain to climax the season which is not a result that can protect them.
For Cece United, they are going back to the lower league after a devasting two seasons participation in the topflight. They got to the first division league after winning the 2021/2022 season of the second division league.
The end od the road came for them last weekend when they were held to a two-all draw against the Oilers of the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company at the TUSA Field in the city of Gardnerville. With two games remaining Cece is in has 17 points from 24 league matches. They were able to win four of their league fixtures, drew five and lost 15.
On the other hand, Blackman Warrior football club is the first Liberia team this season to secure a promotion slot to the national first division league.
The Warriors are currently on the top of the second division league table with 61 points from 26 league matches. They are four points ahead of Shaita Football Club who second on the table (57 Points) and 13 points over Discoveries Football club who are third with 48 points and a game at hand.
As it stands, the Warriors are now leading to their extra time fight for the clashing of the second division championship and will hope to extend the gap in the last four matches remaining as their major contender Shaita also eyes the trophy from afar.
