Bong county top tier kickball club, Weah Professionals, has decried the alarming issue of nonsupport for the team as the Liberia Kickball Federation sets to kick off the new kickball league season.
Weah Professionals Kickball Club was among nine others club participating in the two-day Jamboree organized by the Liberia Kickball Federation Margibi Sub-Association recently in Kakata City, Margibi County, and the girls pulled out a very good performance that gave so much credit of admiration to technical staffers and the players.
After their elimination in the quarter finals of the Jamboree, scores of Administrators spoke to different stakeholders about the team’s performance, indicating lack of support as a major challenge faced in the county.
The club’s president, James Idea Weah, lamented that since the last two years of the club’s existence, the lack of support from citizens, sportsmen, and other officials of the county, has been a major challenge to keep the club active, terming it as sad for the young generation of players who are passionate of building their talents and promoting the Liberian-owned game.
He revealed that the Weah Professionals Kickball Club will be among other clubs to participate in the Liberia Kickball Federation Margibi Sub-Association national kickball league that is expected to kickstart in April 2024.
The club president also used the medium to call on residents of Bong County, marketers, residents of Fuamah District, and more especially the current lawmakers of District #7, to extend support to the club, indicating that the players’ future matters most.
He called on Liberians to join hands in supporting the game of kickball across the country by raising awareness and allocating some budgetary support so that young women and girls can use their talents to build up a professional life in sportsmanship.
