The former Comptroller General under the Coalition for Democratic Change-led government, Janga Augustus Kowo, has accepted to replace Mulbah Morlu as its National Chairperson.
The party has expressed explicit confidence in the leadership ability of Atty. Kowo, a retired student leader and experienced public servant who is expected to lead the former ruling party to its National Convention in April 2024.
The decision follows a series of consultations among national executive members which received the blessing of the party’s Standard Bearer, George Manneh Weah, just upon returning to the country.
Atty. Kowo was unanimously preferred to replace Morlu as National Chairman, as he (Morlu) now prefers being an ordinary member of the CDC.
The opposition political party now envisage that the leadership of Atty. Kowo will find a time to bestow the party’s highest honor upon Morlu for his sacrifices and commitment through his service rendered to the CDC over the years.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Koijee and the CDC have disclosed that they will provide the necessary security at their best discretion for their standard bearer without the approval of President Boakai, if the current leadership refuses to grant the request.
Recently, Weah requested for 25 officers of the Executive Protection Service for his safety, following his own assertion that Liberians should manage to obtain security televisions.
His request, though claiming the attention of many citizens, is yet to be given attention by the government.
