The Executive Committee of the Liberia National Students Union (LINSU) had an acquaintance meeting with the new Minster of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Jeror Cole Bangalu, on the discussions of issues concerning the youth and students’ community.
The student union delegation of eight executive committee members was headed by the president of the governing body, Muhammed Ghandi Kamara, at the Ministry’s head office in Paynesville City at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex on Wednesday, March 6, 2024.
In a conversation with the new Minister, LINSU president, Kamara, and his entourage, extended congratulatory pleasantries to Minister Bangalu on his appointment, confirmation, and subsequent commissioning to the government by the Liberian Chief Executive, Joseph Boakai.
Ghandi-Kamara commended Minister Bangalu on his commitment made during the confirmation hearing to the Liberian Senate on working with reform policies that will give students and youth of the country space at the table for decision-making on the national scene.
He further asserted that the Liberian student community is also committed to working with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to ensure that the interests of government, in line with the youth and student procedures, are achievable under this administration.
Other issues discussed during the engagement with the Minister set the spotlight on the Union’s upcoming 6th post-war elective congress, which will bring to an end the leadership of Ghandi as president of the Union.
The Union’s president stated his commitment to presiding over the congress in a most transparent and peaceful elective process that will have him transitioning the student’s decision to the leaders that will be elected at the congress.
For his part, Minister Bangalu lauded the delegation of the Executive Committee of the Student’s Union for recognition of his latest achievement, and showing up for such a special visit at his office.
He reechoed that his administration at the Ministry of Youth and Sports will work with all stakeholders in the youth community to have the overall interest of the young people fulfilled in the most easy and timely state.
He also assured his guests of working with the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning in the coming days to have LINSU going to a well-organized, transparent, and peaceful transition process in the future congress.
