A Liberian female wearing the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) badge as an assistant referee, Hannah Moses, departed the country to participate in the 2023 All-Africa Games (AAGs).
The African sporting festival is taking place in Accra Ghana and the Liberian female match official departed her motherland on March 2, 2024, to form part of the officiating department of the event, which is considered as a version of the Olympics for African countries.
Hannah is among 48 referees, including 12 female assistant referees, selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the 13th edition, which will be held in Accra, Cape Coast, and Kumasi from March 8-23.
According to the Liberia football Association, for the second time in the history of the All-African Games, the competition will be played in three cities in the host country.
23 sports have been confirmed for the continental event, with squash expected to feature for the first time in 20 years.
The different disciplines at the AAGs include Arm wrestling, Cricket, and Rugby Union, while seven others are set to debut at the prestigious continental competition.
The 2003 AAGs were scheduled to take place from August 4-19 2023, but was postponed after an agreement between major stakeholders running the multi-sport competition.
