LFA Suspends Referees, Club Official

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has suspended two match officials, referee Moses Johnson and assistant referee Charles Boimah, as well as the Chief Executive Officer of Pepper Football Club, Samir Kamara, for different offenses with immediate effect.

Class ‘B’ referee, Johnson, was suspended for three rounds of matches in the second phase for wrongly reporting a scorer in an Orange Second Division match between Pags FC and Margibi FC at Tusa field on September 28, 2023.

Abraham Jackson equalized for Margibi during the 1-1 draw with Pags, but Johnson awarded the goal to Joshua Baysah in the competition’s matching system.

Class ‘B’ assistant referee, Boimah, has been suspended for three months from all LFA-related activities for his role in the altercation with Pepper FC Chief Executive Officer, Samir Kamara.

Boimah was caught on camera, which went viral on social media, exchanging insults, throwing stones, and using the flag in retaliation during a Gardnersville sub-committee round two match between Pepper FC and United New Georgia (UNG) at Tusa field on December 4, according to a release issued by the Liberia Football Association over the weekend.

On the same note, Samir Kamara, alias Pepper, was suspended from all programs and activities of the FA for reportedly physically attacking assistant referee Charles Boimah during the Gardnersville sub-committee round two match between Pepper FC and United New Georgia (UNG) at Tusa field on December 4 under review.

The release added that he was caught on camera, which went viral on social media, throwing stones at Boimah, leaving him injured and needing medical attention, and also making life-threatening statements towards UNG officials at the venue.

“His action violates Chapter Four, Section 4a of the 2023/2024 National Third Division Regulations, which states, “A player or club official who assaults a match official shall be suspended from participating in LFA organized football activities, for a period of 12 months if it is a player and 14 months if it is a club official,” the football house reported.
