Police in Nimba has sent to court three suspects in connection to the death of a female in the county.
“Police investigation has charged Ledin Yesia, 45; Samson Dolo, 35, and Lawrence Gono, 26, with murder, and they have been sent to court for prosecution,” a CSD senior investigator disclosed.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Alice Nyan, commonly known as Kou, was murdered by unknown men in a rubber farm in the town of Pledehyee in Nimba county.
The suspects, according to eye witnesses, called the victim on phone to come meet them on the road prior to her death.
Speaking to this paper at the Police station in Sanniquellie, CSD Washington Quiwon explained that preliminary investigation charged the suspects with murder and criminal conspiracy to commit murder.
According to Police, suspects’ charge sheet was sent to the court in Ganta, while suspects remain in Police protective custody in Sanniquellie for fear of mob justice.
“Angry crowds attempted to burn down the police station in Ganta, demanding us to turn suspects over to them, so we immediately transferred the suspects to an unknown location,” Police revealed.
Nyan’s body, according to Police, has been deposited at the Gompa funeral home, pending investigation.
This is the second woman to be murdered in Nimba in less than a year, raising concerns among the residents in the county. A few months ago, a woman was found Dead at F2 Guest House, lying in a pool of blood, and that case is still not closed yet.
