In the opening round of fixtures of the 2023/2024 Liberia Football Association (LFA) Orange Cup competition across the country, a debutant, Discoveries Sports Academy, recorded the biggest win of the weekend at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.

DSA defeated second division outfit Nimba Football Club 8-1 Sunday afternoon, to progress to the next round of the competition. The Legacy Boys put eight goals past their hapless opponents who had been hopeful of getting a result in their favor before kick-off.

Nimba FC played with all vigor and energy for the full 90 minutes. They created chances that could have resulted into goals at the beginning of the second half, but were only able to breach their superior opponents once.

Young star players of DSA, namely: Johnathan Freeman, Saah Moses, and Cephus Gebro, were all on the score sheet. Other scorers for the ‘Legacy Boys’ were Raphael Peters, Jeboe James, Franklin Varmo, and Albert Kieh, who got a brace.

With such magical display and plenty goals, ending Nimba FC’s Orange Cup journey, Coach Akin Baryogar and his Discoveries team will be hoping to keep up the pace to compete with others that are of potential threat to them in the LFA premier cup championship.

In Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Discoveries are expected to be up against Samira Football Club in the Second Round of the Orange Cup competition. Samira won the Black Man Warrior via a penalty shootout at the ATS, in Monrovia last Sunday.

Both sides played to a goalless draw and had to be separated by penalty kicks. Samira scored six penalties to BMW’s five, to clinch a vital victory.
