CDC Youth League Pushes For Violence-Free Elections In October

By Bill W. Cooper

Ahead of the October 10, 2023 Presidential and Legislative elections, the National Youth League of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has committed itself to a democratic and violence-free election in Liberia.

The Youth League, through its Chairman, Emmanuel M. Johnson, recently noted that the maintenance and protection of the country’s peace and stability is a collective effort of all patriotic citizens, especially the youthful community.

This Mr. Johnson maintained, “We want to let the citizenry know that the CDC is a peaceful party and would like to reiterate our commitment to this vision of our party and leader, Goerge M. Weah, and the world at large.”

“The young people of this country are also forever grateful and we want to reassure you, Mr. President, that a one round victory for the CDC is inevitable and come October 10, you will be retained by the people of this country,” Johnson said.

Johnson recounted that on December 30, 2022, the CDC Youth League declared an ensuing “One Round Victory” and said that the certainty is based on numerous voters’ perception surveys by international organizations and local media outlets.

According to him, the Youth League, from all indications, has seen how committed the Liberian people are to making history in electing the Liberian leader on the first ballot in October of this year.

He noted that the mammoth convergence of Liberians at the ATS during the CDC campaign launch is just a glimpse of what Liberians are to see at the ballot box, come October.

Chairman Johnson also stressed that electing President Weah is a youthful mandate and that said mandate has well been received by the young people of Liberia, disclosing that the Weah-Taylor administration has carried out massive developments across every sector, including roads, education, health, and economics, among others.

This, he asserted, “So, we the young people of this country want to assure our President, George M. Weah, that his second term should be about empowering 500,000 youths in diverse sectors, including the provision of the fullest support to the national cadet program, to prepare many young people for the job market.”

Meanwhile, Johnson also called on the first time voters to see President Weah as their own, stating, “To our first time voters, this is your moment and time to achieve your long-term wish of electing President Weah.”
