Liberian Female Referee To Attend Course In Egypt

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has invited FIFA-badged referee, Sylvina Garnett, for a 2023 elite women’s referee course which runs from August 5-9 in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The course, according to the Liberia Football Association, will bring together 22 FIFA-badged referees, 18 FIFA-badged assistant referees, seven instructors, two video assistant referee (VAR) technicians, and four CAF staff.

She is expected to leave Liberia on August 4 and will return on August 11 for the course that is being fully sponsored by CAF.

Garnett and FIFA-badged referee, Emmanuel Mensah, completed a 10-day intensive Video Assistant Referee (VAR) training in Casablanca, Morocco, from November 21-30, 2022.

The two Liberians were among 18 African referees who attended the practical and theoretical sessions that started with basic training, working through VAR protocols and simulator.
