Education Threaten Schools’ Authorities

Education Ministry has threatened to shut down any school and penalized its authorities by graduating students without the results of the West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
In the same stringent measures the ministry has dispatched a team of fact-finder to the counties to make sure whether or not schools completed the 200 days instructional period.
MOE’s Communications Director, Maxim Bleehtan told the media Wednesday in Monrovia that drastic measures await schools and their authorities whether private or public that does not respect the above mentioned mandate.
He indicated that from Monday, July 17 to Thursday, July 20 is the closing period for primary (elementary) schools while from Friday, July 21 to Monday, July 24 is the closing period from 7th to 11th grade. For the 12th graders they must await the examination results.
Bleehtan among many things stated that education ministry hopeful that schools authorities might have followed or respected the curriculum and that of the instruction period as per the guidelines.
However, some observers considered the ministry’s pronouncement as a big bluff because despite of all the rules broken by schools’ authorities there has not been a serious punishment besides Ricks and Haywood schools that were punished last year.
