The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana ( UG), Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo was over the weekend commanded the newly inducted leadership of the University of Ghana Alumni Association in ( UGAAL) at the Royal Grand Hotel in Monrovia.
Madam Amfo is said to be the first female Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana. According to her, the establishment of the University of Ghana Alumni Association in Liberia, with strengthen the two countries bilateral relationship in education.
UG Vice Chancellor also noted that the University of Ghana has been providing advanced education in Africa and is doing its best to provide condusive learning environment to it learning populate.
She said her leadership has established the Institutional Advancement of the University of Ghana ( OIA) to strengthen its alumni association across the globe.
She said since the establishment of the United Kingdom ( UK) and United States of America alumni associations, UGAAL stands to be the third University of Ghana Alumni Association established in the world.
Madam Vice Chancellor promised to support the workings of UGAAL in Liberia for the greater good of the University of Ghana.
She told the UGAAL leadership and guests at the event that she hope the newly launched and inducted alumni association of Ghana with serve as a new beginning in the educational sectors of both nations.
For his part, the President of the UGAAL, Daniel Blamoh Nah was excited for the establishment of UG alumni association in Liberia.
Nah said the establishment of the UGAAL is a dream comes through in Liberia.
He said in 2017 some light minded alumni from the University of Ghana came together for the establishment of UG alumni association in the country.
The UGAAL newly inducted leadership mind is concentrated on strengthening the association continue growth and development. UGAAL boss also noted that the association is committed to upholding the highest standards set by sisters Associations globally.
According to him, UGAAL is currently consist of seventy (70) members in Liberia.
He expressed thanks and appreciation to those who contributed for the establishment of UGAAL.
There were speeches made at the occasion.
The ceremony was well attended by officials of government and alumni of UG, but ended with a grand fund raiser. UGAAL collected close to two thousand United state dollars in cash, and over fifty thousand Liberian dollars in cash. About thousand United state dollars left in pledges.
