Guinean Arrested With Voter’s Card In Ganta

Mariem Gapa, a Guinean national has been arrested for being in possession of Liberia’s elections voter registration card.
Speaking to this paper at the border, the joint security revealed that Madam Gapa was arrested on a commercial vehicle while returning through the border to Guinea.
This is the third arrest of a Guinean since the voter registration exercise begun in the county in less than a week.
Speaking to this paper, Madam Gapa admitted of being in possession of the voter card on grounds that her husband is a Liberian who resides in Montserrado.
“My husband is a Liberian and I’m living in Guinea; I did my registration in Sinkor,” Madam Gapa disclosed.
Since the voters’ registration exercise kicked off on April 21, 2023, reports of alleged trucking of Guinean through borders along Garr belt in electoral district one in Sanniquellie mah in electoral district two and in Yekepa belt, in electoral district three, is reportedly on the increase and is creating serious concern among the residents in the county.
When this paper contacted LIS Commander William Budy via mobile phone, his phone was off.
When this paper contacted LIS Commander, Yei Dolopaye, via mobile phone regarding suspect Gapa, he remained tight-lipped on grounds that the information has not reached her office regarding arrest of a Guinean with a voter card.
Investigation continues.
