PCC Embarks On Massive Clean-up Exercise In Red-Light

By Bill W. Cooper
The Paynesville City Corporation (PCC) has embarked on a massive clean-up exercise in the densely populated commercial hub of Red-Light with an appeal to marketers to remain within the vicinity of the 14-Gobarchop Market in Paynesville.
The PCC through its Director of Police, Melvin Tolbert, is aiding the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) and contractors to speedily complete the ongoing Coco Cola to ELWA junction corridor.
However, the PCC’s action came amidst the return of the marketers to the Red-Light marketers after being relocated to the Omega market by States authorities sometimes of last year.
Mr. Tolbert, who led a huge team of PCC workers at the commercial hub of Paynesville to carry on a massive cleaning-up exercise over the weekend, said, “It is troubling to see marketers and motorcyclists between construction machines while they are in motion.”
“So, it is very important and advisable for marketers and motorcyclists within the Red-light road construction vicinity to vacate and allow CICO workers carry on their work and fast-track the ongoing road construction before the rainy season approaches,” he said.
According to him, these machines do give up at any time and at such, marketers and motorcyclists should keep a distance to avoid the problem, thereby warning, “It is time that marketers who are in the constant habit of selling on the main road desist as penalty awaits them.”
“CICO cannot be building the road and you have people selling all on the streets. It is disgusting and troubling because anytime any of these machines can give up. It’s too risky my people, your leave the street and let CICO do its job,” Tolbert pleaded with the sellers.
Commenting on the duration of the cleaning up exercise, the PCC Director of Police further indicated that if more logistics are provided including manpower, the exercise will continue, all geared to making Red-light conducive for humans.
Tolbert then encouraged all citizens residing in Paynesville to join and give the city its evergreen color; asserting that PCC is not the only entity responsible to clean Red-lights, adding, “This job is not for only PCC. It’s everybody’s job. That’s the reason you see even marketers are helping in the process.”
Meanwhile, during the clean-up exercise, some marketers joined to clear the drainages that were filled with filths as well as assisting in the removal of stockpile of garbage.
