Lone Star Opens Training Sessions In Johannesburg For Tomorrow’s Encounter

After the safe arrival of the Liberian Lone Star senior national team’s delegation to Johannesburg in South Africa under the watchful eyes of Coach Ansumane Keita, the boys have engaged into training sessions to further prepare for the encounter.
According to the Liberia Football Association’s social media platform, the team conducted a brief warm-up session during the early morning hours of Wednesday March 22, 2023 while the full training session was expected to start the day in the evening.
Additionally; ten of the 12 foreign-based players that are expected to be featured against the South African national team have already safely touched grounds in Johannesburg; and according to sources; notable names that joined the team that departed Liberia on Monday, March 20, 2023 from different destinations are: the team’s Captain William Jeboe; Marcus Marculey, Tonia Tisdell and Oscar Dorley.
Others are Sampson Dweh, Mark Pabai, Justin Salmon, Nohan Kenneh and Peter Wilson; as Mohammed Kamara was recorded as the latest foreign-based player to join the team, while Mo Sangare and Allen Njie were anticipated to arrive later yesterday.
Meanwhile Coach Ansu Keita and his technical staff held a brief meeting with the team where William Jebor was introduced to his teammates as the team’s captain and Tommy Songo as the vice-captain.
Jebor expressed his gratitude to the technical team for selecting him to wear the armband, saying that it is “an honor” to do so once more.
The first batch in the delegation to depart Liberia included the head of delegation LFA second Vice President Saye-Taayor Adolphus Dolo followed by executive committee member Nyemah Nyanway, Deputy Sports Minister Andy Quamie and Dixon S. Horace of the Ministry of Youth & Sports.
Others are the LFA Technical and Development Committee members and former Liberia’s international footballer Anthony Laffor and media officer Anthony Kokoi.
The rest includes head coach Ansu Keita, deputy coach Cooper Sannah, goalkeeping coach Nathaniel Sherman, trainer George Gebro, doctor Torsou Jallabah, administrative manager Sebastian Collins, masseur Sampson Z. Zoegbeh, kit manager Tommy Johnson, kit-man Sonnyboy Mason and seven local-based plus four foreign-based players.
They are Tommy Songo, Emmanuel Denneah, Derrick Julu, Arago Jamal, Prince Balde, Darius Kah, Terrence Tisdell, Joachim Adukor, Morris Konneh, Ketu Jerbo and Farsedu Logan.
Lone Star will face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Friday, March 24 at the Orlando Stadium in the first-leg of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers before the return-leg in Monrovia at the SKD Sports Stadium on Tuesday, March 28.
