Report reaching this paper says, alleged massive smuggling of basic commodities like cement to Guinea linking Cemenco’s authorized distributor P.Y. Enterprise in Ganta.

Speaking to this paper over the weekend in the county, Elder James Saye made the disclosure that there is a massive smuggling of cement into Guinea through Ganta’s main border.

According to the Chief Elder, if nothing is done to contain the situation, shortage of these basic commodities; cement, gas or rice will hit the county and will leave peaceful citizens to suffer.

Speaking on the same issue to this paper at Nyankorma Quarter in Ganta, Oldman Jerry Weamie and Ma Elizabeth Yeah frowned at the joint security assigned at the border of not implementing government’s mandate by stopping and searching all vehicles before crossing over to Guinea, but this is to the contrary as vehicles are allowed to cross with commodities to Guinea on a daily basis.

According to Oldman Weamie and Madam Yeah, if nothing is done to curtail the alleged smuggling or trans-shipment of cement to Guinea will create another acute shortage of basic commodities like rice, petroleum, cement among other things.

P. Y Enterprise is among Cemenco’s authorized distributors in Ganta that supplies registered Cemenco dealers in the nine districts in the county.

Since the beginning of 2023, trucks bearing Guinean license plates continue to pour in for consignments of cement in Ganta around the P. Y. Enterprise under the watchful eyes of the Ministry of Commerce staff in Ganta.

“We really want to know whether P.Y. Enterprise has another branch of cement depot in Guinea,” Oldman Weamie wondered.
