A Representative aspirant of District 12 in Montserrado County has commenced the construction of two major projects totaling US$ 43, 000 in two communities in Gardnersville on Friday, January 13.
Mr. Jerry Kolubah Yogboh’s project upon completion will contain a mini modern market at Borbor Swagger Island Community costing US$28, 000 and retaining walls for the drainage in the National Transit Authority (NTA) Community costing US$13, 500.
He also renovated and dedicated the public Gardnerville Community Clinic constructed in 1974 situated inside the Stephen A. Tolbert Memorial Housing Estate at the cost of US$10, 000. It has been fenced, rewired or re-electrified as well as upgraded latrines among others.
During the groundbreaking ceremony at the NTA Community, Yogboh urged the residents who have been battling flood and erosion during the raining season for years now to take ownership of the 0.662 miles retaining walls.
“We don’t want our people in this NTA Community in particular to continue suffering from flood during the rainy season therefore, we have come to help mitigate the situation. With this, let the community take ownership of this project following its construction,” Yogboh urged.
The Dream Engineering Construction Company (DRECCO) is the contractor while the Jerry K. Yogboh Foundation is providing the cash with the residents providing the labor.
In the Borbor Swagger Island Community, a mini modern market will be constructed for the first time for the residents who for years had been selling in the rain and sun.
The market will be constructed on a two-lot of land personally bought in 2009 and donated to the community by Augustine Myers, a broadcast journalist who once worked with the state-owned Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) but is now employed with the Water, Sanitation and Hygienic Commission known as the WASH Commission.
He said the legalized land deed of the market is in the name of the marketers of Borbor Swagger Island Community and not the Jerry K. Yogboh Foundation or Myers.
Residents of the three communities expressed gratitude to the Jerry K. Yogboh Foundation for undertaking those projects.
Yogboh has undertaken projects within the 17 communities of the electoral district including construction of bridges, rehabilitation of roads, renovation of schools, sponsoring of students at graduate and undergraduate programs at various universities and colleges among others.
Yogboh is Manager of Yogboh Group of Companies that is engaged in transport services, information and communications technology (ICT), and healthcare services among others.
He once worked with the United States Trading Company (USTC), Liberian Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI), Ecobank Liberia among others.
