The Representative of Electoral District 3, Joseph M. Matthews has urged his constituent of Gbarma and Kongba Districts to re-elect him so that they can achieve more good work together.
He made the call when he recently developed a brochure of all of his activities in District 3 in Gbarpolu County during the last five years in office coding it as ‘Reasons for the Re-election of Hon. Joseph Momo Matthews, Jr.’.
Rep. Matthews said his work in the district is unmatched by anybody before him and now.
“We have demonstrated love for home and we are clearly ahead of our opponents. We have created opportunities for our women, empowered young people through education; we have helped to improve our health sector and many other things,” he stated.
Outlining his achievements; he said his office has constructed town halls, market buildings, Mosques and Youth Centers across the district.
He state further that his office also provided 20 bundles of zinc and nails for the construction of the J.V. McGill Public School in Zuie; provided materials for the construction of Duosah Bridge and the Jenemana Bridge respectively. See reasons to re-elect Rep. Matthews
“As a direct result of proper representative and responsible oversight, my office advocated and ensured that all major towns in Electoral District 3 in Gbarpolu including Zuo, Yangaryah, Trkpoimah, Smith Town, Ballah Bassa, Wesua, Gbeleeta, Tima Town, Beaden, Mbarma, Camp Alpha, Kungbor, Zuie, Normon, Jawajeh are fully connected with communication Network Towers as a member on the House Committee on Post and Telecommunication,”Matthews stated.
“I’ll also ensure that an exploring Company in Kongba District called Youssef Diamond Mining Company (YDMC) makes available to the people the 2% from their operating budget which is by law to the affected community which has never happened all the previous years they operated. That engagement yielded US$157,000 for the people of Camp Alpha,” he narrated.
On lawmaking, Rep. Matthews said he has since submitted two bills to plenary seeking for the establishment of Magisterial Courts in Mbarma and Normondatono and also help in other National Legislations including Mineral Development Agreements to help empower the people of the western belt of Liberia.
“Our work can clearly be seen today in the district. We were able to train over 1,200 women from our Village Saving and Loan Program with an initial deposit of a million Liberian dollars for the first year.
Across the 73 Electoral districts in Liberia, District 3, Gbarpolu County was certificated as a Cooperative named ‘Gbarpolu District 3 Women in Agriculture and Micro Finance Cooperative Society LTD, the first of its kind.
With the help of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), we did a Poultry Farm for the women of Gbarma District and many other engagements with our citizens,” he explained.
Rep. Matthews concluded that his office is currently involved in helping every clan or major town in the district to make a COMMUNION FARM this year in order to minimize the issue of food shortage in the country.
