The Standard Bearer of the Rainbow Alliance, Reginald B. Goodridge, has lamented that the CDC government has indeed betrayed the aspirations of young people of Liberia by ignoring their educational quest.
According to him, the ruling government is rather spending millions of US dollars on useless vanity projects and foreign trips for the benefit of the enjoyment of the elites.
He made the statement over the weekend at the launch of what they described as “I Am Somebody Youth Power Campaign” a strategy designed to encourage the development of self-esteem, confidence and respect in the youths of Liberia.
Serving as the key launcher of the campaign in Miatta Town, Todee, District No. 1, Montserrado County, Mr. Goodridge added that unless the young people of Liberia receive proper education, the future of the country is doomed.
He furthered that the critical aspects of improving education for the young people is retraining of teachers and increasing their salaries and benefits, the provision of laboratories in all high schools and colleges, and the setting up of libraries across the country.
In several remarks, the Chiefs, Elders and heads of organizations present applauded the historic efforts of the Rainbow Alliance for selecting the remote Township of Miatta Town to have launched the youth power campaign.
They noted that unlike other political parties that focus their resources in Monrovia, the Rainbow Alliance has given respect to rural dwellers to help open the eyes of the underprivileged children.
During the launch of the campaign; the Rainbow Alliance donated T-shirts, copybooks and pencils to dozens of elementary school students and made a commitment to provide medical supplies for the community and help improve school facilities.
