Shooting Disrupts Census Exercise In Nimba

By Solomon T. Gaye Sr.
A recent impromptu shooting in the border town of Gblorplay had apparently halted the census exercise in that part of Nimba County.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs assigned zone chief, Moses Flomo, said the sound of automatic raffles in Gblorplay has left to many residents to seek refuge in the bushes and villages in other districts.
According to the zone chief, the shooting has claimed the attention of the government of Ivory coast that immediately deployed soldiers to monitor the borderline along the side of Ivory coast.
Flomo explained that argument erupted among the youth and the LIS border patrol officers over how much to be paid by a truck that was prepared to cross with cocoa produce into Liberia.
However report coming from Gblorplay since the incident on November 30, 2022, revealed how many of the residents are still living in fear and many more have now retired to their farms and are waiting for government’s intervention.
This is the second shooting allegation that links LIS border patrol assigned in the county in less than two months in this same year.
Speaking in separate remarks, Martha Yeah and Robert Taye accused the LIS border patrol Commander of carrying out the shooting in Gblorplay Town upon his arrival with some LIS officers in a pick-up for the investigation.
Madam Yeah added that the action of the LIS Commander couple with the arrest of the youth leader led to some angry youth staging a road block in demand of the release of their colleague.
When this paper contacted the LIS border patrol Commander via mobile phone, he refused to comment on the allegations and referred this paper to the LIS General Commander, Yei Dolopaye.
The MIA central office hosting the county administrations confirmed report of heavy shooting in Gblorplay.
