After huge public criticism of what many described as a faulty nomination process presided over by the Liberia Football Association (LFA), a nominee of the Fan of the Year Award has declined from the voting of nominees activities.
The LFA awards committee decision to nominate Cece United Vice President for operations Elizabeth Nyandibo for the Fan of the Award category became an affront to followers and other football stakeholders both on social and other media platforms since the day of the pronouncement at the Fruzion Entertainment in Sinkor.
Many believed that the FA judgment was influenced by forces to have disrespected Cece United by bringing one of its executives to an award that is intended to appreciate fans of football in the country.
Sources revealed that football fans could never be please to continue following the rest of the season if the LFA remains firmed of the committee decision.
A day after hearty expressions, Nominee Elizabeth Nyandibo declined from the process pledging support Joyce Cooper as the female Fan of the year to get the award.
According to her, as a stakeholder serving the capacity of VPO at a club in the Liberian League, it is necessary to withdraw from the demeaning award category for the deserving individuals to take advantage of their labor and passion for local sport.
“I feel it is necessary for me to request that my nomination for the female fan of the year award be withdrawn for the fact that I am a stakeholder at the Liberia Football Association serving in the capacity of the Vice president of Operations at the Cece United Football Academy,” Nyandibo wrote on her Facebook page early Wednesday morning.
She further expressed that despite the fact that she is committed to the development and promotion of football in the country, there are females below the stakeholder’s category that fits for the fan of the year award which she is far above.
However, she said “despite the fact that I am a stakeholder at the LFA, I will continue to promote the growth and development of football in Liberia through whatever means”.
“For the two females that were nominated along with me for the award, I hereby pledge my support to Joyce Cooper and asking all my supporters to transfer the support and votes to her,” she intimated.
